1. These users located in Italy, Spain, Poland and Belgium, representing only 1 % of Community consumption, are active in various industrial sectors, mainly in automotive, construction and mechanical engineering.

This is in line with the information provided by CAEF, based on a study of the profitability of 93 foundries in 2006, according to which the average profitability of the foundry industry was 4,4 % (the average margin being 2,8 % for foundries producing for the automotive sector and 6,4 % for those producing for mechanical engineering sector).
6. However only eight users, accounting for 15 % of imports of wire rod from the countries concerned during the IP, cooperated in the investigation. These users located in Italy, Spain, Poland and Belgium, representing only 1 % of Community consumption, are active in various industrial sectors, mainly in automotive, construction and mechanical engineering.

The product concerned is used in a wide variety of applications, like for mechanical uses (including automotive and engineering), in the construction business for piling, for power generation like boiler tubes, as oil country tubular goods (OCTG) used for drilling, casing and tubing in the oil industry, and as line pipes to transport liquids or gases.
8. As for the profitability of the foundries mentioned in recital 93 of the provisional Regulation, it was found to range between 2 % and 6 %.
